Friends of the IBC Program

Friends of IBC is the the easiest way for IBC Graduates to connect with their  former class-mates and, if they wish, maintain connections with faculty and current students. Joining us on this website gives you the chance to look at what other UO Ducks and IBC grads are up to.  Over time, we may even find ways to assist each other in other ways, for example - to keep developing our cross-cultural communication skills, or to exchange information about jobs, help each other while traveling, or mentor each other and new students.

This IBC Friends site enables us all to share knowledge of our own countries of birth and current residence, or even to contribute to a blog about culture and communication (or food, of course!)

Think about traveling to another foreign country and wanting to meet someone. Never forget that once a duck always a duck! We can always help each other feel welcome, wherever we live!

Let's Reconnect

Friends of the IBC Program

The IBC Program started in 1998 and has been successful ever since. More than 320 students have completed the program and received the “Letter Certifying Mastery.” Many more took some of the courses as electives, or as a way to interact and build connections with students from different parts of the world.

The IBC Program and this IBC site will always ensure that you have good friends all over the world!

We live in a world that full of interactions, and being familiar with people and societies from different cultures moves the world closer to cooperation and the enjoyment of peace and prosperity. The more you know about a foreign culture and how it functions, the more likely you are to succeed in the business world or in any organization--as all organizations, today, are increasingly connected.

IBC graduates who reported back about their lives, now, have said that the IBC Program has helped them through their careers, and we are deeply glad to hear that.

In order to succeed in the workplace, a person most certainly needs to plan, communicate effectively, and keep an open eye on the opportunities ahead of them. Thus, a person must always work on developing their vision in order to take better actions.  It helps to continue developing our visions, together.

Action without vision is only passing time, vision without action is merely day dreaming, but vision with action can change the world

The Friends of the IBC Program is a great platform for former students to reconnect with each other. Through this website, you can always communicate with fellow IBC graduates from around the world, and you are most certainly welcome to share whatever you have learned in your careers.

The website also focuses on ways IBC students can help each other in all different ways imagined. Always remember, connections is also about having fun!
